Congratulations to our latest Cool Kid of the Week: 16-year-old Duncan Bigger of Peoria! Duncan, a freshman at Peoria High School, loves playing football, hanging out with friends at school and Woodland Baptist Church in Peoria, and spending time his family. Sounds like the average teen, right? Well, there's a big something that sets this guy apart. He also loves to help with construction and maintenance projects around the church where his Dad is the new pastor, First Baptist in Marquette Heights.
According to Chris Bigger, his dad, Duncan deserves to be the Cool Kid of the Week "because of his tremendous heart for God and how he ministers to those around him...He constantly wants to help with some of the elder members of the church and ministers to them through his compassion and caring for their needs."
Why does he do it? Couldn't a 16-year-old find better things to do with his time? Duncan says he sees his service in getting the church "back to where it used to be" as a way to help get the congregation ready to reach out to his generation and those to come.
WOW, sounds pretty cool to me!
Thanks for the great example, Duncan. And, enjoy that Cool Kid of the Week Prize Pack: a WCIC t-Shirt, a special CKOTW key-chain, and passes for two for a free movie, pop, & popcorn at Landmark Cinemas in Peoria!
So, who should be our next Cool Kid of the Week? Nominate a kid ages 8-16 today. Oh, and don't forget to listen this afternoon at 4:11 to hear more from Duncan Bigger during Doing Life with the Traceys on WCIC!
