I was sitting in front of my TV with the PlayStation 3 I'd received as an early birthday present. As I eagerly typed in my birth date so I could set up a game, my daughter gasped, "Wow, you're old!"

I'm sure you know life's a gift. My problem is I don't usually live my life like it's a gift. I usually survive work and errands and collapse on the couch in a limp "Jeremy mess" at the end of the day. It's possible you can't relate, but I have a feeling you can.

Earlier this week, my 2nd grader and I were working on her spelling words for school. As I test her, we have this little thing we do where I put the word into a sentence and sometimes try to make it funny. Sometimes she laughs, sometimes she pity-laughs, sometimes she giggles uncontrollably, and sometimes she ignores me. {It's a mixed bag.} But, her reaction on this day was something new.

This morning, Jill and I talked about the big trend in high schools these days known as the "promposal". In a promposal, a guy comes up with a creative way to ask a girl to prom. Now remember, this is a huge to-do centered around asking a girl to PROM. Not asking for her hand in marriage, but asking her to accompany him to a dance..that is held for one night...and then is over. Can you tell I'm not convinced that this needs to be a thing?
