Celebrating a Giver

Posted by on in Life

Andrew Lichtenberger of Peoria is a giver. For more than 13 years Andrew has volunteered at WCIC. Now that might bring up visions of helping answer phones or put out a mailing a couple times a year. Which would be a lot. What happens at WCIC day in and day out could never happen without hundreds of people who volunteer in the studios or out at community events or concerts. If you're one of those people, thank you! You are what today is all about...giving of your time and resources.

Andrew? Well, he's a different story altogether.

For years, Andrew showed up every morning at the WCIC studios to do whatever needed doing. He emptied garbage cans, washed dishes, and wiped down desktops. He walked through snow drifts to shovel walks. He pulled weeds, moved rocks, organized the basement...you name it, Andrew's done it. And along the way Andrew became family.

He grew and matured. We did the same. As Andrew moved from high school student to independent man living on his own, he set his sights on a lifelong dream. He's always wanted to get his driver's license.

What would make better sense as Andrew closes his chapter with WCIC than to make sure he has his very first set of wheels to go along with that new license?

Thanks to Bob Lindsay Honda and Bob Lindsay Acura, this morning we were able to present Andrew with a 2008 Honda Civic in mint condition as a thank you for his years of service on this Giving Tuesday.

Was he surprised? You might say that...but have a listen for yourself:
