Cool Kid of the Week
Meet nine-year-old Pierce Cook of East Peoria, our Cool Kid of the Week! Pierce, a fourth-grader at Robein Grade School in East Peoria, has a passion for sharing the love of Jesus with others. A group from his church (Highview Church of God in Washington) has been serving once a year at Love Packages in Butler. Love Packages collects Bibles and other Christian materials and sorts, packages, and sends them overseas to countries that would otherwise have no access to items like these.
For the last three years Pierce has asked people to donate Bibles for his birthday instead of receiving presents for himself. Then, around the time of his birthday, Pierce presents his gifts to the staff at Love Packages. He celebrates his birthday there too, sharing cake and ice cream with the staff after a day of hard work helping out with the sorting and packing. Pierce's birthday is June 25th and his mom says he's been asking since early March if they could celebrate his birthday at Love Packages again this year. Pierce's mom says, "He is such a 'cool kid' and I am so proud of his giving heart."
As Cool Kid of the Week, Pierce will receive a gift actually just for himself: a WCIC t-Shirt, a special keychain, and passes for two for a free movie, pop, & popcorn at Landmark Cinemas in Peoria. Plus he'll join Jeremy and me at 4:11pm during Doing Life with the Traceys on WCIC.
So, who should be our final Cool Kid of the school year? Nominate a student you think deserves the title before it's too late!
